"Assumptions are the termites of relationships." We are all good at making assumptions about situations and people, based purely on what we see. We look at things through the lens of our perceived ideas, we formulate a notion that we tell ourselves must be true, and then make it our declaration. Assumptions lead to problems. Why you ask? Because we don't bother to ask the relevant questions. We don't communicate at that very initial stage, and therefore set the stage for error and remorse. Assumptions are an imaginary truth until they become verified. A silent killer of any great relationship. For any relationship to be strong and healthy, there needs to be communication, not assumptions. Before we assume, learn the facts. Before we judge, understand why. Before we hurt someone, feel. Before we speak, think. "Assumptions are our windows on the world. They need to be cleaned every so often to let the light in."
